Chicken Information

The chicken is a bird subspecies of the red junglefowl with similar features of other wild species such as the grey junglefowl and the ceylon junglefowl. The chicken is one of many domesticated animals that are bred and mass produced for food. There are many chicken farms across the world, which make chickens one of the most common and widespread domestic animals in the entire world. In 2019, over 72 billion chickens were processed in a single year, which make up 90% of the entire worlds land food production. Because of this, many animal-rights groups are trying to stop production companies and many are becoming vegan to protest against these factories.

The History of the Chicken

The origins of the chicken is kind of odd. Chickens were originally domesticated for "cockfighting" or Rooster Fighting, which was a sport where two chickens would fight to the death. The domestication of the chicken started over 8,000 years ago in Southeast Asia, and eventually spread to India and China around 3000 years later.
